The Christians Who Saved The Jews

“One who saves one life, saves the world entire” — Hebrew proverb

Thank you to the “righteous ones”.

At Passover and other Holy holidays not only do I contemplate the tradition of the Hagadah of the Jews being taken out of Egypt, I also ponder and feel grateful for what Israel and the Jewish people consider “the righteous ones”. I am grateful for the Christians and Catholics who saved an entire generation.

Thank you to those people who stood for what is right and risked their lives and hid Jews knowing the consequences. If it wasn’t for them, Israel would not exist. There would have been no survivors to build the Jewish nation.

As I understand it, in Christianity there is a belief that the Jewish people must exist in order for Christian Messiah (Jesus) to come back and that’s why they were saving Jews. But it doesn’t matter to me that the reason they saved the Jews was for the return of the Messiah. The truth is they did what is good and right.

It was an easy choice for these Christians to help the Jewish people. They didn’t turn their backs like so many others. No, it was simply what they felt was the right thing to do. They didn’t hesitate to help save the lives of children, many of who were converted to Christianity as a way of escaping persecution.
