Happy Purim! They tried to kill us, we survived, let’s eat! Get me drunk so I don’t see all the evil surrounding me!

Purim is upon us again, and although not a religious holiday, this year it has more meaning than ever before. We refuse to go away, we refuse to die! You can try to kill us all, you may hate us, you may despise us, you can try to dehumanize us, but you will respect us! Our survival is proof that one person can make a difference, and so we honor Queen Esther or Haddasah.

Regardless of your political affiliation, religion, ethnic background, October 7th should have been a wake up call not only for all the Jews around the world to remember who they are as a people, but for all people on this crazy rock we call earth. If they kill all the Jews, will you be next? You can bet it will be someone else!

And on this tiny rock we made a pact with our Creator that we would honor the divine and keep the commandments. Zionism is not a dirty word.

It is the dream of an ancient people to live free in their land, it didn’t begin with a movement in the nineteenth century. It is the eternal hope of the Jewish people. We agreed to be the “Chosen people”. We agreed to keep the light shinning in a world of darkness and hatred. We made the desert bloom.
